So you’re on this site, you probably don’t need convincing but we thought we’d compile top 5 reasons why we love cooking Chinese food.

It’s really quick.

Most meals, once you’ve prepared your ingredients, is really quick to fry up. Obviously things like dumplings or crispy belly pork aren’t quick to make (they are uber delicious) but for things you’re going to stir fry it’s a matter of minutes. That’s what we love, you feel every moment of your delicious dinner forming under your spatula as you stir fry.

You can stir fry anything. Know the order.

Once you know the basics, you really can stir fry anything you have in your fridge. You just have to know how long each ingredient needs in the wok. For example if we had green peppers, sweetcorn, cooked ham slices, carrots and onions and we wanted to make noodles with these, the order we would probably stir fry them would be: onions, carrots, green peppers as they take the longest, wait 4-5 minutes then the sweetcorn and ham. Just make sure you don’t overcook your vegetables. Once you’re happy with this add in the noodles, stir fry, and you have a really delicious meal! This doesn’t just apply to stir fries, even noodle soups, steaming etc. Once you have the lowdown on the basics, it’s easy peasy.

Fresh meat and vegetables.

What a way to get your 5-a-day. Chinese cooking prides itself for using fresh meat and veg. Although there are things that are preserved (i.e.cabbage, Chinese sausage etc) that you can cook with, generally most ingredients are fresh ingredients and we don’t think there’s anything better or healthier.

It can be healthy.

If you make it yourself you can add whatever nutrients you need, be it nuts, seeds, eggs, spinach, certain type of meats, etc. You can also control the amount of oil and salt that goes into your dish.

The diversity of ways to cook.

Ranging from stir-frying, steaming, braising, deep frying, shallow-frying, boiling and roasting. From these you can make the most amazing varieties of dishes. There’s nothing quite like it.
