King Prawn Chop Suey - Chinese Recipes For All

An easy to prepare and easy to cook dish. Perfect for when you want a big plate of seafood!

Serves 2

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 slice ginger
  • 180g king prawns
  • 200g, beansprouts, washed and drained
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce
  • Pinch of white pepper, or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 1 tsp cornflour mixture
  • 1 spring onion, cut into 1 inch slices
  • 1 tsp soy sauce, or to taste

Prepare 1 tsp cornflour mixture


Prepare the garlic, onion, ginger and spring onion. Wash and drain beansprouts.

Ready? Let's cook!


Heat oil on high heat. When hot, fry onions, ginger and garlic for 1 minute.


Add beansprouts and fry for 1 minute. Then add in the king prawns and fry for further 1 minute.


Cook for 3 minutes. In the meantime, add 4 tbsp water. When it starts to boil add oyster sauce, pepper and salt and mix. Then gradually pour in cornflour mixture and stir until sauce is thickened.


Add spring onions to wok and mix in. Add soy sauce to taste. Serve with boiled rice or noodles.
